Real chocolate buttons!,  23 Aug 2011

by Julie Joyce

I made these with milk chocolate-amazingly life-like. Use white chocolate with a touch of food colouring for coloured buttons. The smallest size button can be fiddly to fill - I used a small plastic syringe (the kind you get from the vet to give medicine to a cat) and it worked perfectly. I now have a 'button box' in the fridge!

    Cute as a button !,  07 Nov 2011

So pleased with my Chocolate Buttons mould .It arrived so quickly (day or so after ordering !)-I couldnt wait to rustle up some cakes like your photos.I melted the chocolate and just used a teaspoon to drop it bit by bit into the mould -you want it as level as poss.so you dont have excess around the button when it comes out of the mould) A quick tap on the work top gets rid of any air bubbles.I let it set a bit then put it in the freezer for a few minutes. They will then pop out easily -catch them on a piece of kitchen roll and you wont have to touch them and make finger prints on them .What a humourous & cute touch for a cake!
