This is a MASSIVE silicone work mat. It was so big, that to get a decent photograph, I had to put it on the floor !
The mat is fantastic for rolling our pastry and fondant. It's great for protecting
work surfaces too. For rolling fondant and pastry, it's best to either lightly dust with flour or apply a tiny little vegetable shortening (like TREX) before use.
It's has markings for rolling out circles from 5" / 125mm dia right through to
16" / 400mm diameter.
To the sides, it has guide markings with both inches and cm.
Bear in mind that being silicone, it can be cut through quite easily. Therefore, it
is important not to use sharp objects on this item. If you want to trim round a piece
of fondant or pastry to an accurate size, LIGHTLY use a blunt table knife.
I've been using the particular mat in the photo regularly for nearly 3 months now and there is not a mark on it.
SO easy to clean - just wipe over with a cloth and the gunge is gone. Saves trying to scrape bread or pastry dough remenants off your work surface ! Fondant peels off it with ease.... Makes sugarcraft work that little bit easier.
You can even pre roll pastry to size and then roll it up in the mat. Put it in a bag in the fridge to keep the air out and it's ready in advance for when you need it ...
